We value the health of our community. These are some measures we will be taking to help stop the possible spread of contagious viruses.
As a precaution, we are enacting our emergency food distribution plan.
Enfield Food Shelf has been monitoring developments with Covid-19 (2019 Novel Coronavirus) and working closely with Foodshare and Feeding America to determine how to continue to safely distribute food assistance to our friends and neighbors in need during these uncertain times.
Our priorities are to keep volunteers and donors safe while supporting the shoppers that depend on Enfield Food Shelf for critical food assistance. In order to protect ourselves as best as possible, we are instituting some practices for the next 30 days, at minimum, to ensure a healthy work environment for all. These practices will be evaluated continually as well.
1) According to our Emergency Plan:
Any volunteer or shopper showing signs of an illness or may have been exposed to the Corona Virus is required to stay home;
Contact between volunteers and shoppers will be limited;
All volunteers are required to wear gloves;
Food assistance will in a grocery-style;
Donations are welcome; however, we ask donors to drop items at our donation door and not enter the facility;
Enhanced sanitation procedures are in place to limit the spread of the virus within the facility.
2) By working together, we can help to stop the spread of this virus.
Please take the following precautions:
Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer.
Wave at a friend or acquaintance rather than hug or shake hands.
Cover your nose and mouth if you sneeze or cough and dispose of tissues immediately in the trash.
Please:
Be patient while waiting due to these new procedures. Our goal remains to safely provide food for those in need in our community.
Thank you – for taking an active role in helping to keep Enfield and the Enfield Food Shelf a healthier community.
