Volunteers are the backbone of the Enfield Food Shelf operation. Every week, many individuals and groups commit themselves to performing the many tasks necessary in order for our food pantry to meet its mission of ensuring no Enfield family in need is without food assistance.
Our volunteers are retirees; elementary, middle and high school students; employees of businesses; college interns; and individuals from every “walk of life” who bring with them a variety of different skill-levels. Even though our volunteers come from many different backgrounds, they all share the common desire and dedication to helping others and working as a team to advance our mission.
Each week, volunteers pick up food donations, sort, process and stock food and non-food items, assist our new and returning shopping families during food distribution and provide facility maintenance such as breakdown of cardboard and cleaning. We host employee teams who graciously handle many of our larger projects throughout the year and provide much needed support during busier times of the year.
We and our families are very fortunate to have this group of volunteers. Their dedication and commitment to assisting families in need is a model for everyone. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Enfield Food Shelf for more information.
